I Actually Finished Something!!!

Hello my fellow stitching friends.  I have been busy stitching on a new Christmas ornament for this year and I actually finished it.....sort of.  I first saw this design on "Samplers and Santas"..Marly's blog...and went to the shop on Etsy and purchased the pattern.  It worked up fast and I love how many different ways this can be finished.  I decided to do a little pillow that can also double as an ornament.  I added one of my signature bows and I'm waiting for the rusty bells and rusty safety pins so I can add them.  That's what I meant by sort of.   I stitched it on 28ct. flax linen using Crescent colors and it turned out about 3 x 5....perfect for an ornament.

Also, if you have a daughter or grand daughter who loves Beauty and the Beast, in my store "Fabrics for sale" you will find a set of premium cotton fabrics that I had purchased hoping that our next great-grandchild was going to be a girl but that didn't happen.  So if you're a quilter, it's a beautiful set to make a nice size quilt.

I've also listed a project bag for sale.

That's all for now.  Everyone have a fantastic weekend.

It's been awhile Ladies since I gave update and I hope everything is going well for you all.

Well we made it thru Irma but she remains to be seen.  You look around your neighborhood and you see piles of brush, stacks of wood chopped up and debris everywhere.  I have no idea when the county is going to get around to picking this up but it's really getting annoying to look at.

Then if that wasn't bad enough, the day after we got power I came down with bronchitis.  For 8 days I could barely move, talk, cough or sneeze without pain somewhere.  I think I'm going to call it "Irma's Revenge" from now on.  I didn't go to the doctor because I already knew what he was going to say...."drink plenty of fluids and take tylenol".  Right?  Why make him richer when I might need that money towards our new roof.

I did start 2 new projects while trying to live thru all this.  First is a design called "Queen Bee" and it's by Little House Needleworks.  I've had in my stash a piece of fabric that's a very pale green and it has printed on it a design that looks like a honey comb.  Well I thought that would be perfect and here's what I have finished so far.

I'm stitching it with Au Ver A Soie 100/3 silks and Belle Soie and I'm loving it.  I hope you can make out the print on the's pretty pale.  The fabric off to the side is the pack of 5 inch charm squares I'm going to use to make a project bag out of it.  It's slow going but I'll "git r dun".

Then I started a new shawl using a very unusual least for me....sugar cane.     It's by Araucania  and it's called Ruca Multy.  It's very much like bamboo and will have a wonderful drape to it.  It's a dk weight so the shawl should be a little larger than the pattern says which is fine by me.

It has an unusual color combination....camel, toast brown, light blue and mauve but I like how it's turning out so far.  I'm using a pattern that I've used before and  by the way it's made, it should lay on the shoulders very nicely.

Well that's about it.  I hope everyone has a pleasant week and you get lots of time to do something you love.

We got the power

Hello sweet ladies.  First I want to thank all of you who sent emails wishing us good luck and many prayers for our safety.  We lost power around 10 pm last Sunday evening and just got it back about an hour ago.  In Florida in September that is pure misery.  We were lucky to find some ice for a few days and went out for most of our meals.  Hubby went back to work last Tuesday so he was lucky to be in some air conditioning during the day.  I made my way over to Peyton's everyday and stayed there till around 4 in the afternoon so I could beat rush hour traffic on the way home.  We went to Perkins for dinner tonite and met some people who still don't have power and I'm praying that when they go home, they had power too.  I'm not going to show any pictures because I'm sure by now everyone has seen enough destruction.   On our property we lost some tree limbs and some shingles from our roof.  We got off easy compared to some others close by.  Irma was a very destructive storm because of how big she was and how slow she moved.  It was a very frightening experience and I hope I don't have to go thru another one like her.  For those that were in her path, God Bless.

Thank You

With all the preparations for our visitor coming....Irma....I thought I would make a last post before she decides to take our power from us.  I want to thank all of you that have wished us well and are saying a prayer or two for all of us in danger.  I received many emails from you dear sweet angels and I thank you so much.  With the grace of God we will come thru this fine.

A Start and a Prayer

Hello my sweet readers.  I hope this finds everyone in a good mood and able to do alot of "stitchie stuff".  I was able to start a new La D Da design called "Cherry Picker".  As you can see by the photo I haven't finished that much but I'm really enjoying the stitch.

I'm stitching it on a 32ct. Floba with DMC floss and am having very little trouble with it.  I take breaks and work on my crocheting and have finished two items.
The first is a small shawl done in a stunning light grey merino wool with a contrasting band at the bottom of shades of denim blue and greys.

I was also able to finish a cowl made with a hand dyed gradient wool done by a fantastic dyer on Etsy.  I love the shades of light yellow blending and ending with a beautiful shade of brown.

I want to thank all of you that made a comment about the little Samplar Hare I was able to finish in my last post.  Something was acting fonky with my email account and was not able to answer them.  I do appreciate very much every comment that is made on my blog and I do try to answer all of them.

As most of you know I live in Orlando, Fl. and we are getting ready for Irma.  We have stocked up on all the necessities but are staying put in our house.  Not too many shelters take animals down here and I absolutely will not leave Vallie.  She is a part of our family and family takes care of family.  I do ask for a little prayer be said for all the ones who are in danger from this hurricane and I pray that everyone comes thru okay.  Also, please God, don't let this go west and hit Texas like Harvey.  They've had enough.  I hope to talk with you soon.

Blessed Be, Barbara

A finish and Belle

Hello Sunday evening to everyone.  I have a finish!!!  Yeah!!!!!  One on 32ct linen!!!!! and I love it.

This turned out so cute.  I've always loved La D Da Designs but this one is special for me.  I didn't think I could work on 32ct linen again and this one proved I could.  It's a small design....about 6 x 6 but for me it's huge.

I spent the afternoon over at Peyton and John's and we all went out to lunch at Wahlburgers.  If you're looking for an inexpensive place for lunch, this is NOT the place.  There were 4 of us plus Little John and we just had burgers and fries and our bill was over $70.00.  We were all curious to try it and that will be our last time there.  No burger is worth that much.

When we got back home, Peyton presented Belle with a new toy.  It's very hard to find toys that she does not destroy in 5 minutes so when we were in Pet Smart they came across some toys that were made out of genuine fire hose material.  I got a call from Peyton about an hour ago and Belle had destroyed it and pieces were laying everywhere.  Here's a picture of her before the destruction.  She's turning out to be a really good dog for Little John.  Everyday they lay on the floor with his blanket over her and his head resting on her belly and they watch tv together.

Well that's all for this evening.  Everyone have a safe and happy week.
Blessings, Barbara

Almost finished

Hello ladies.  I'm happy that you are visiting my blog to see what I'm up to.  I started this a few days ago and I absolutely love it.  It's by La D Da and called Samplar Hare.  They give you instructions on how to make a stand up but I think I'm just going to frame it as it is.  Maybe some dyed rick rack instead of a mat.  We'll see....but here he is.

I'm actually working on a 32 ct without too much trouble.

I also wanted to let you know that I'm putting quite a few patterns on my sale page so you might want to check that out.  Might be something you're looking for.

Blessings, Barbara
